Why Isn't the U.S. Taking the Lead to Combat Global Warming?

Recently, some global warming experts found that sea water at the base of Greenland's massive ice sheets was approaching 40 degrees, far warmer than expected.
Then, NASA reported that ice sheets from Antarctica and Greenland are melting much faster than our projections. They're now warning that ocean levels could rise 3-6 feet by the end of this century yet the United States seems handcuffed, some senior Republicans even denying the science. Can we afford to leave our planet in this dire condition to our children and grandchildren?
