Look in Other Likely and UNLIKELY Places for Financial Aid
It should be obvious but be sure to check with your school’s financial aid office. There are public university scholarships and grants available from hundreds of schools. Check out your school first but don't forget to look for travel abroad scholarships from other places as well. There are also federal loans specifically available for studying abroad. And, don't forget private student loans administered by various banks and organizations. In addition to funding your program costs, you might find help paying for airfare, living costs, and cultural excursions. Finally, BE CREATIVE in your Google search. I found overseas scholarship information for college students and also for teachers who want to teach abroad on a site for spanish examinations! Who'd have thought it? And, better yet, there are scholarships for Costa Rica (you're going to have to work a bit to find this info in the site but it'll be worth it).
Don't be misled by its name, National Spanish Examinations has overseas scholarship info, click here
There are also scholarships from medical associations, legal associations, conservation organizations, teachers' organizations, and lots more places. Seek and ye shall find. AND, one more thing. When you find your dream scholarship or grant, remember who gave you the idea. Pura Vida!
