COSTA RICA TOURIST ATTRACTIONS
For a tiny country, Costa Rica tourist attractions are pretty amazing in their diversity. So much so that I devoted an entire section called "Things to Do." But, you know what? There are way too many fun things for that section so here are "MORE THINGS TO DO" when you travel Costa Rica. In this section of the website, I'll take you on a tour of Costa Rica's Museums. And, below the jungles into Costa Rica caving. You can even go on the water with exciting whale watching or below it if you'd like to enjoy scuba diving. And, by all means, check out "Things to Do" and "Even More To Do" with the Navigation Button to the left.
Costa Rica Tourist Attractions: Museums
The first Costa Ricans, hunters and gatherers, hunted mighty mastodons in the land Christopher Columbus "discovered" about 14,000 years later.Over millenia, remote, isolated groups settled into small villages where they learned how to grow food and make pottery. Hundreds of generations passed and, as their societies evolved, jade became an important part of their religious and cultural identity. About 2,000 years before Columbus arrived, gold replaced jade as important symbols of their culture and evolving beliefs. The evolutionary epochs of men and women who walked this tropical land from the long-distant past through contemporary artists are on display, and highly recommended, in Costa Rica Museums
Costa Rica Tourist Attractions: Boruca
After Spain colonized the land Christopher Columbus discovered, claimed, and named "Costa Rica", their Conquistadors and priests set out to civilize its peoples, bringing Christianity for their souls while stealing gold and other valuables for their coffers. As it developed, there simply wasn't a lot of gold to be had, causing the Spanish Governor to lament in 1517 that he presided over the "poorest and most miserable Spanish colony in all Americas". It probably didn't help that what Spain made up for in power and arms it lacked in public relations and empathy, making it clear to the indigenous Indians that since they weren't Christians, they had to be devils. Though it's not clear to me whether the Boruca tribe of southwest Costa Rica took umbrage or pride at being called devils but for the last 500 years or so it has held an annual festival where the devils defeat the mighty colonial power. If you travel takes you south, take some time to visit Boruca

Costa Rica Diving

Once, while diving among pretty little fish in crystal clear waters along the edge of a drop-off, a giant sea turtle suddenly came out of the black depths, swam around a bit, and silently returned.I'll never forget it. Neither will you on your Costa Rica vacation. Crystal clear tropical waters. Coral and fish of every color. Sometimes thousands of them. Little ones and really big ones. And sometimes even a surprise from the deep. Costa Rica tourism offers something for everybody. Whether you're an experienced diver or want to learn, try unforgettable

Costa Rica Tourist Attractions: Caving

Caving has recently become an activity of Costa Rica tourism. Indeed, it's still in its infancy. Though there are some 234 caves discovered in this little country (most within the last few decades), only a handful have been explored. But, if you'd like to be one of the few people to visit caverns in Costa Rica, the best places are Barra Honda National Park on the Nicoya Peninsula and Cavernas Venado close to Arenal Volcano. 60,000,000 years ago, what is now Barra Honda National Park was part of a coral reef underneath the Pacific ocean. Over millenia, tectonic activity has raised it hundreds of feet out of the water and today there are dozens of beautiful caverns in this park. Want to see more about
