COSTA RICA TARPON FISHING MANZANILLO

Well, not totally secret. But almost---until now.
On your Costa Rica vacation, check out Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Reserve along the southern Caribbean coast of Costa Rica, nearly at the Panama border.

From May to October, sea turtles come ashore its beaches and year round tarpon are found in both sea and fresh water rivers.

Some days are better than others, of course, but fishermen have reported hooking up to 60 in a day!

So, if you're a serious fisher, come to these waters when you travel Costa Rica.

Crystal clear waters perfect for swimming, diving (you can rent equipment and even get PADI certified) and snorkeling (Costa Rica’s largest coral reefs are here)

The rare and recently discovered Tucuxi Porpoise that lives in only one river in Costa Rica (it’s found in the Amazon river, too)

Sea turtle nesting sites (four species) and

Tarpon and snook. Lots of them.

In the sea, in the many lagoons.

Very little Costa Rica fishing pressure.

But when they're here, lots of fish!

And you may also be able to view sea turtles nesting. Depending upon the species and beach, you might see them anytime from March through September.

Getting to Gandoca-Manzanillo

Just go to Limon (on Costa Rica's Caribbean coast) and head south.

Keep going until the road ends!
