Thinking About Buying into a Proposed Development?I DO NOT RECOMMEND PUTTING ANY MONEY DOWN ON A PROJECT THAT IS NOT ALREADY COMPLETED AND THAT YOU, OR SOMEBODY YOU TRUST, HAVEN'T INSPECTED.Your credit may be terrific. Your developer's credit may be A-1. But, like everywhere else, banks here are (hopefully temporarily) cutting back financing. If you make a down payment and the developer can't finish the project, then what? One big, maybe expensive headache, that's what. My advice: Stick to completed real estate properties. There are great Costa Rica real estate deals with no risk. Until things sort out, my company will not offer unfinished projects for sale. I work hard for my money. So do you.
