COSTA RICA FISHING ARTICLE: DEEP SEA FUN!
Welcome to my Costa Rica fishing article. Imagine being out on a boat angling in crystal waters, surrounded by sunshine and fresh air. Suddenly, your line gets a hit. If this sounds exciting, a Costa Rica fishing vacation could be something for you! Sure, fishing in your little lake is fun because you know that the worst day of fishing is better than the best day of working. But, don't you deserve a vacation of a lifetime in one of the world's great fisheries? Lots of Costa Rica vacations involve fishing. Along the North Pacific coast, the areas of Flamingo and Tamarindo offer the most popular fishing spots. Here, sailfish can be caught throughout the entire year but the best fishing is from May to August. Tuna are abundant here during August to October. It is not uncommon to see tuna schools of 40 to 60 pounds as well as groups between 200 and 400 pounds.

The Bay of Papagayo from November to March is a great place to catch roosterfish. They tend to like shorelines and are usually caught in around 60 feet of water. Good sized marlin, colorful dorado, and the wahoo can also be caught here at varying times of the year. If you are looking for billfish when you travel Costa Rica, the spectacular Central Pacific coast is where you want to be. From December to April, you can visit Quepos or the Los Suenos Marina for a guided charter to angle in deep offshore waters for marlin and sailfish. The colorful dorado fish can be caught from May through October. If you explore closer to shore, you can expect to find wahoo, roosters, snapper, and snook. Golfo Dulce, Drake Bay, and Puerto Jiminez are places to be aware of when fishing along the South Pacific coast. In the months when the waters are warmer, you have a great chance at hooking marlin or sails. Indeed, for the best inland fishing in Costa Rica, go to the Golfo Dulce area. It is haven for many species of fish because it has a rocky terrain and contains several coves. Expect to catch barracuda, grouper, sea bass, snapper, amberjack, wahoo, and even roosters here. You will not be let down if you angle in these areas! The Caribbeaan coast of Costa Rica is home to the world-famous Tortuguero and Barra del Colorado fishing centers. Avoid visiting here during the rainy reason of January to March. This is because the water stays choppy and is not conducive to a good catch. On a day where the waters are flat, this is a deep sea angler's dream spot! May to November, the valuable tarpon is bountiful here and they can grow up to 150 pounds. If you are very lucky, you might land a rare Atlantic sail. This is also a good area for snook. Jack Crevalle, guapote, giant grouper, and tripletail can also be caught here. Costa Rica fishing is considered by many to be second to none. Its bordering waters offer a staggering variety of fish species. For a great experience, Costa Rica sportfishing vacation packages can be found online and through travel agencies and there are many Costa Rica fishing resorts and outfitters to choose from if you decide to go on a spur-of-the-moment.
