COSTA RICA CURRENCY CONVERTER
In Costa Rica currency is measured in colones.
Though most Costa Ricans will take dollars (many prefer this!), you're going to want to exchange some money into colones for day-to-day things like taxis, buses, snacks, souvenirs, food, and other things.
Obviously, the best place to do this is in a bank. You'll need to bring your passport. Some stores, American-serving restaurants, and hotels willingly exchange dollars into colones or accept dollars for payment but most Ticos cannot and will not.
It's NOT a good idea to exchange money with somebody on the street because of the possibility of forgeries. And, of course, if you pay a taxi in dollars, you'll have to accept his currency rate.
When you travel to Costa Rica, you might find the currency exchange confusing at first so here's a handy, easy-to-use currency converter.
