BUNGEE JUMPING

Have you read my new book?

It's called Bungee Jumping for Dummies. Chapter 1 is entitled "Why would any sane person jump off a VERY HIGH bridge held only by a rubber band?

Since the answer is obvious, there is no Chapter 2.

Look for yourself.

What you don't see from the photo is. . .

the ground (actually a river).

It's there.

265 feet below.

5 seconds away.

An eternity.

Jumping the Old Colorado River Bridge

Probably the most popular place for bungee jumping is the old, abandoned Colorado River Bridge. It's also one of the longest drops in the Western Hemisphere.

I was going to tell you that I can't imagine anybody enjoying these death defying Costa Rica attractions until I came across this video courtesy of YouTube, click here

But, wait.

The man laughing and really enjoying this is the fellow who runs the company. He stays on Terra Firma.

The other guy--I don't know his name but somebody referred to him as "El Stupido Gringo"--isn't laughing. He's so scared he can't even wet his pants.

And this is fun?

The outfitter here is Tropical Bungee which claims its youngest fool. . .

er. . .jumper was 4 and the oldest 80.

Well, good for them. I'm going to stick to the Tilt-a-Whirl.

And you? Want to try this Costa Rica adventure on your Costa Rica vacation?

Shot From a Cannon

Speaking of Tilt-a-Whirls, remember going to the circus and watching some clown getting shot from a cannon?

Well, I have great news for you.

You can get shot from a cannon, too. All you need to do is vacation in Costa Rica.

If you prefer, you can take the bungee plunge in the dark of night.

What do you think would be more terrifying: seeing the ground coming up at the speed of light or plunging downward in the dark?

Actually, if you survive the cannon you can defy death again by jumping in the dark at the same place.

Or you bungee jump and actually touch the water.

Where? At Arenal Bungee, located in Fortuna, almost in the shadow of magnificent Arenal Volcano, click here

OK, I'm about done.

I've warned you.

But don't listen to me.

Even Tropical Bungee warns people that jumping is addictive.

You've been warned.
